Patient Diversity

Working in healthcare, you are bound to encounter all sorts of patients with unique needs and challenges. From elderly patients to those suffering from serious illnesses, every patient is different and requires an individualized approach to their care.

One patient may require extra attention due to their non-compliant diabetic condition, while another may have survived a traumatic car accident and need extensive medical attention. Additionally, drug addicts and smokers add a level of complexity to treatment plans.

Though each patient will present their own set of difficulties, they deserve compassionate and attentive care – which makes this profession so rewarding.

Workplace Romance

Dating a coworker can be tricky, but it's not impossible. I know firsthand because I dated someone I met at work for two years. We kept our relationship quiet and low-key because I didn't want to be the subject of the rumor mill. While it was a positive experience, I caution against dating superiors or anyone who could potentially impact your career. Keeping the romance out of the office and maintaining a professional attitude while enjoying your relationship outside of work is important.

At the end of the day, you want to be known for your hard work and not your personal life. So, keep your love life quiet and bask in the joy of being the subject of something other than office gossip.

CPR Importance

CPR is a life-saving skill that everyone should know. While most hospitals require their staff to know it, some still need to. I remember working at a hospital where everyone was taught how to do it, but it wasn't mandatory at my current workplace. Despite this, I couldn't shake the feeling that I should relearn how to perform CPR.

Knowing how to do CPR could mean the difference between life and death. I strongly encourage anyone not knowing how to perform CPR to take a course and learn. You never know when to use this valuable skill to save someone's life.

Consent Forms

When it comes to medical procedures, getting a patient's consent is crucial. That's where consent forms come in. A consent form must be printed for the patient to sign whenever a doctor or nurse orders a surgery or procedure. It's important to clearly specify what procedure will be performed, whether it's a coronary bypass or a right-above-knee amputation.

Additionally, it's essential to figure out who the doctor will be performing the procedure and include their name on the form. Even if the order was placed by a physician assistant, it's important to learn who everyone is to ensure a smooth process.

Consent forms are vital to the medical system and must be handled with care and attention to detail.

Tab Organization

As someone who values efficiency and productivity, I've learned that one key to success is having all the necessary tools at your fingertips. That means having all the tabs open on my computer, which is what I need to do my job effectively. Whether it's accessing the company's intranet to stay up-to-date on the latest information, using a system to view patient orders, or monitoring patient movements within the hospital, having quick and easy access to these tools is essential.

It's all about being prepared and having the resources you need at your disposal, and having multiple tabs open is just one way to stay ahead of the game.
