Ways to Reduce Stress Levels in Healthcare Environments Instantly

Hospitals can be chaotic and overwhelming, causing stress and discomfort for patients and staff alike. With the constant beeping of monitors, the shuffling of equipment, and the coordination of care among patients, nurses, and physicians, hospitals are often uncomfortably loud for everyone, regardless of hearing ability. These noises can cause headaches, irritability, and anxiety in those within hospital walls.

However, utilizing technology to monitor noise levels, taking steps to reduce noise from surgical instruments and other equipment, and keeping earplugs on hand for those who need them can help mitigate the impact of noise.

Effective communication, reducing unnecessary conversations, and identifying opportunities for low-cost solutions, such as fixing squeaky doors and equipment parts, can also help minimize the overall noise level and create a more peaceful hospital environment.

Zero Candidates Interviewing for ER Positions Where Nurse Called 911 (Video)

The above video shows the disturbing story of one hospital having zero candidates interviewing for ER positions. What could be causing this problem?

The current job market is tight, and many qualified candidates are vying for a limited number of jobs. This is especially true in the medical field, where the demand for skilled professionals is high.

One possible cause is the nurse who called 911. The emergency room was overwhelmed with patients and was short-staffed. After calling, they sent over the Fire Department, who provided help via the EMTs.

Another possible reason for the lack of interest in ER positions is the pay. Many hospitals are struggling to keep up with the rising healthcare costs, and they cannot offer competitive salaries. As a result, many potential candidates may be discouraged from applying for these positions.

Whatever the cause, it is clear that this problem needs to be addressed urgently. The consequences of not having enough ER nurses are potentially dire, and action must be taken to ensure that hospitals have the staff they need.

Tips for Dressing Appropriately as a Unit Secretary (Video)

Dressing appropriately as a unit secretary is important for several reasons. For one, it's the first impression that you make on your new coworkers when they see what type of clothing and accessories are allowed in their work environment; also you don't want to be that person walking by wearing inappropriate attire. People do talk.

Dress codes vary from hospital to hospital. Some offices require business-like clothing, while others may have more casual dress codes; however, it's important to always be professional and presentable at work!

The following are some helpful information about the different types of outfits most medical facilities recommend:

A uniform. We must wear black or khaki pants and a white shirt/blouse at the hospital.

Business Casual blends traditional business wear with a more relaxed style that is still professional and appropriate for an office environment. You may have to wear a nice pair of slacks (any color) with a shirt or blouse (any color). On the ICU's other sister floor, the unit secretary wears business casual.

Scrubs. Nurses wear scrubs, and sometimes the unit secretary wears them, too. I've mainly seen the CNA/HUC wear scrubs because they will work the desk and assist patients.

These are the most common dress code requirements for hospital work. Remember that you are the first impression of the hospital and your unit.

How Hospitals Can Keep Their Employees During the Great Resignation (Video)

The average hospital loses a percentage of its employees every year. That's a lot of money and time spent training new people!

According to Addam Marcotte with FMG Leading, hospitals can keep their employees during the Great Resignation by not just offering them a retention bonus or pay increase but by becoming a great place to work and giving their employees a way to hone their skills, developing their career, and grow in leadership.

Lawsuit Filed Against Houston Hospital Dismissed (Video)

A federal judge dismissed the lawsuit filed by 117 employees against their hospital on Saturday, June 12, 2021.

Jennifer Bridges, a nurse at Houston Methodist who is leading the lawsuit, has vowed to fight on and will take the case to the U.S. Supreme court if they have to.

Hospitals in Indiana, Washington D.C., Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania have recently announced a mandatory vaccination requirement for their employees, and they are getting pushback as well.

Texas is an at-will state, meaning your employer can fire you for any reason - or no reason at all. And so are Indiana and Pennsylvania.

Houston Hospital Suspends 178 Employees for Refusing the Vaccine (Video)

This is a follow-up to a blog post in May about some hospital employees suing their hospital for requiring all employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Fast forward to today, and those employees plus others who refused the vaccine have been suspended.

In this video, I'll share my thoughts on this Houston hospital suspending 178 employees with no pay for 2 weeks.

Hospital in Texas Facing Water and Heating Woes as the Winter Storm Rages (Video)

Whenever a hurricane approached Florida, I would volunteer to work during the hurricane because the hospital is the "safest place to be." A hospital is basically its own city.

But when the state you live in is catching hell, and the hospital starts to catch hell, well then...

My heart goes out to everyone suffering, and I want to thank all of the Unit Secretaries throughout the county for doing their part to help in a time like this.

Will Hospital Patient Visits Return to Normal in 2021?

This article asks a good question: Will the patient census return to normal in 2021? Hospital workers know that the usual suspects, also known as "frequent fliers," will never let a pandemic stop them from visiting the hospital. But what about everyone else?

Tell me what you think will happen this year? Click the link below and tell me what you think. Leave your comments below.
