Top 3 Viewed Videos on My YouTube Channel (Video)

I've compiled a list of the top 3 watched YouTube videos on my channel. Hopefully, this will help you to get a little break from your work and learn something new.

1. This video is at number 1 with 4,823 views. It explains how the first hour of my day starts, and I'm convinced if you do these steps, then when the curveballs come, they will not stress you out.

2. I made a video about the 3 hardest things to learn as a Unit Secretary. It was my first ever Number 1 ranking on YouTube, so it's neat looking back at all those years ago! 4338 views for this particular one - not too shabby considering how long ago it was published...

3. I'm still shocked at how fast this video rose to the top. Sitting at number 3 with 3,206 views, I talk about my one day working in the Emergency Room.

If you haven't already, please subscribe to my YouTube channel. Thanks for reading and watching!

As a Hospital Secretary, You Know All the Important Details (Video)

As a hospital secretary, you know all the important details about the hospital.

You know how to make the patients feel at home and get them taken care of efficiently. You know how to be a go-to person for any department in the hospital when it's crazy busy because you pinch-hit wherever you're needed most.

There's nothing like being directly involved in patient care by performing administrative duties—which means taking care of operations on both ends.

Be Prepared to Work Harder as Unit Secretary (Video)

With the vaccine mandates for healthcare workers spreading across the county, as a Unit Secretary, I want you to be prepared to work harder and longer hours.

You know firsthand about the staffing shortages for those of you who worked at a hospital before the pandemic.

And the pandemic not only exposed the staffing shortages but also stretched them.

With these vaccine mandates, it will be stretched even more as your coworkers quit or are fired.

So, I want you to get your mind together before you walk through those hospital doors.

I want you to be prepared to move to another floor if your department is shut down or if another department has more significant needs.

2 More Tips for the New Unit Secretary (Video)

I made a video a while ago titled 3 Tips for the New Unit Secretary, where I explained that you should take good notes, understand that there are a lot of personalities in the hospital, and know that burnout may happen.

In this video, I added two more tips, one of which is to take good notes! The other is to be time.

Watch the video above to find out why.

3 Signs You're a Good Unit Secretary (Video)

These are the 3 ways you can tell you are a good Unit Secretary.

  1. You are always in control and can make decisions without being micromanaged.
  2. You leave no one to wonder where to get information.
  3. You understand that there are many different personalities in a hospital, and you can work with them all.

3 Tips for New Unit Secretaries (Video)

These are the 3 Tips I would give to the new Unit Secretaries.

Take good notes during orientation. You will order tests/exams daily, weekly, or monthly, and once every blue moon. So, what you see in orientation may not come around for a while, so it is best to write everything down.

There are many different personalities in the hospital. People are stressed by the nurses, doctors, patients, visitors, vendors, etc. One thing that I would recommend is understanding this and walking away when necessary.

Burnout may happen. You need to know your body and know your limitations. Overtime may be abundant in the hospital setting, and there is a temptation to get a lot of OT. Burnout could still happen even if you choose not to work a lot. I encourage you to use your PTO (Personal Time Off) and vacation.
