The Joint Commission is Eliminating Standards

The Joint Commission has eliminated 200 more standards in its accreditation programs. This time, the reduction is for ambulatory and behavioral health centers, critical access hospitals, laboratories, and nursing homes. The changes will come into effect by August 27.

The move is part of the Joint Commission's second major set of reductions, aiming to assist healthcare organizations in addressing their challenges. The accrediting organization hopes to eliminate requirements that do not add value to accreditation surveys, according to a news release on July 20.
