What Will Healthcare Look Like in 100 Years? Hospitals Will Be the Rare Exception

Healthcare is evolving at an unprecedented rate, with new technologies, treatments, and AI models emerging globally. The industry's future changes are difficult to predict, but some predict that personalized care through genomics and disease prevention medications will become commonplace, while others believe that racial equity issues may persist.

We will see significant developments in the next 50 years or less, including personalized health and wellness, AI-backed diagnosis and treatment, gene therapy for disease prevention or treatment, and AI-powered surgical robots. Despite these advancements, AI is expected to augment human capabilities rather than replace them, leading to better care and enhanced longevity.

Looking 100 years in the future, medicine will be unrecognizable, with innovative medicines, medical devices, and improved data sharing and measurement techniques providing more holistic and continuous health insights.

In 2123, healthcare will be about converging historical paradigms, with AI enabling more advanced tools for precision medicine, population health, and real-world data for clinical research.
